Overview
The Bachelor of Arts Honours (BA Hons) is an undergraduate degree centred on deeper study of one humanities or social-science discipline. Unlike a broad general BA, most credits concentrate on a major such as economics, English, history, political science, psychology or sociology.
What students study
Students take progressive core papers, electives, research methods and interdisciplinary courses connected to the major. Reading, essays, presentations, data or fieldwork and a dissertation or research project may appear in later stages. Compare the actual major curriculum rather than the honours label alone.
Duration and study options
BA Hons is commonly three or four years under current university structures. Full-time study is widespread and recognised distance formats may exist in selected subjects.
