Who is affected?
The common PG round is for eligible candidates seeking admission to listed postgraduate programmes with vacancies at Assam University, Silchar or its Diphu campus. The notice lists vacancies in 43 departments or programme areas, including languages, social sciences, sciences, commerce, computer science, law, education, pharmacy, social work, visual arts and mass communication.
The PGDCA drive is for candidates seeking admission to the Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application at the Computer Centre, Assam University, Silchar. Its application and selection schedule is separate from the common PG round.
Required student action
For the common PG second phase
- Open the official notice and confirm that your department has a vacancy in your category.
- Check the applicable programme eligibility and decide whether you are participating with a CUET score or through the non-CUET route.
- If you were already on a first-phase waiting list, do not submit a duplicate application; report directly.
- Fresh applicants should complete any registration requested by the department and keep proof of submission.

- Save the final submission acknowledgement and payment receipt.
- Attend the written test and personal interview at the Computer Centre, Assam University, Silchar at 11:00 AM on August 6.
- Carry original marksheets, certificates and other testimonials for the interview and verification.
- Check the selection list on August 7 and complete admission by August 16 if selected.
Eligibility and selection notes
For the common PG round, the notice permits candidates who have passed or appeared in the final examination of a three-year undergraduate degree under CBCS, or the third year/sixth semester of a four-year undergraduate programme under NEP 2020, subject to the eligibility of the chosen department. Candidates awaiting final results must submit the degree result within the period later notified by the department.
The university says previously wait-listed applicants will receive preference over fresh applicants, and CUET applicants will be prioritised over non-CUET applicants. Candidates selected in an earlier merit list who did not take admission may not be considered in this round.
What happens if the deadline is missed?
A PG applicant arriving after the stated reporting time will be disqualified from the second phase. A PGDCA applicant who does not submit the online form and fee by August 2 cannot enter this drive. Missing the test, interview, document verification or selected-candidate admission window can also end the admission opportunity.
