Overview
The Bachelor of Design in Communication Design is an undergraduate studio programme focused on how ideas and information are shaped through visual, verbal, motion and interactive media. Students build a portfolio across identity, editorial, digital product, information and campaign work.
What students study
Foundation study covers drawing, typography, colour, form, photography, visual culture and digital tools. Later studios may include branding, publication, illustration, motion, user-interface, information design, storytelling and design research. Critiques, prototypes, client briefs and internships develop professional process.
Duration and study options
The programme is generally four years full time. Compare studio contact, print and digital laboratories, software and equipment, faculty practice, live projects, internship support, portfolio quality and whether the curriculum balances concept, craft, research and production.
Eligibility and admission
Applicants normally need Class 12 or equivalent, often from any stream, with the marks and other conditions stated by the institution. Selection commonly uses a design aptitude test, studio or situation exercise, portfolio, interview, academic record or a combination of these.
Career and further study
Graduates work in graphic and brand design, digital product and interface design, illustration, motion, editorial, information design, advertising and creative strategy. Options include MDes, communication, interaction, animation, film, design research, strategy and management.
